Email query from Helen on Gout.

Came across your web site.  Are there any products - or shoes you can recommend for someone suffering from Gout in the big toe.  

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

A really uncomfortable condition!  Apart from following your GP’s advice in its treatment which ,of course, is really important, I certainly would suggest roomy footwear perhaps in the Hotters or Padders range. You can buy these mail order but I would try a local supplier to get the fit correct. Even deeper or broader shoes from DB shoes(also has local suppliers)  You could also use a roomy trainer shoe. In general there is no specific item for this condition, however many of our customers have found our Diabetic/Arthritis specification insoles very comfortable. The insoles conform with foot warmth to the contours of the foot giving superior shock absorption to painful joints in sensitive feet. The insoles also provide a good thermal break with the ground particularly in this cold weather.
