Two things mentioned. 1.flat feet. 2. Heel raise required. To correct flat feet an orthotic is required such as http://www.yourfootcare.com/html/insoles_orthotics_2.html To simply raise the heel this could be done with a silicone heel cup which will raise your heel by approx 1cm,http://www.yourfootcare.com/html/silicone_heel_cups.html. You would need to be certain this is the maximum you require. When larger raises are incorporated in to shoes they are usually specially made. An Orthotic will correct the flat feet but the heel is not so much raised but corrected in its angle. Let me know what you think.

A really uncomfortable condition! Apart from following your GP’s advice in its treatment which ,of course, is really important, I certainly would suggest roomy footwear perhaps in the Hotters or Padders range. You can buy these mail order but I would try a local supplier to get the fit correct. Even deeper or broader shoes from DB shoes(also has local suppliers) You could also use a roomy trainer shoe. In general there is no specific item for this condition, however many of our customers have found our Diabetic/Arthritis specification insoles very comfortable. The insoles conform with foot warmth to the contours of the foot giving superior shock absorption to painful joints in sensitive feet. The insoles also provide a good thermal break with the ground particularly in this cold weather.
Have a look at this link for the Diabetic spec insole:
http://www.yourfootcare.com/html/insoles_orthotics.html
Air makes a big difference around feet. It's amazing how many shoes and trainers have the linings made of man made materials. This makes the feet sweat even more.

Hi,

Yes, see a Podiatrist to get this checked out. Sometimes one foot is narrower than the other and you might find your other foot has no corns between the toes.
A Podiatrist will give you further help on this matter when he reviews your footwear.

Hi Sandra,

It's always difficult to get socks that fit swollen ankles especially since there are many degrees of oedema or swollen ankles. Try either snipping the elastic at the top of normal socks (can work quite well sometimes) or try the WIDE diabetic socks below.
http://www.yourfootcare.com/html/socks.html

Hope this helps

Hi

I broke my right heel in a car accident on 9/16 then had surgery on 9/25 and they put in 8 screws and a plate. They took the cast off after 4 weeks but I think maybe that was too early, since it started to open and bleed. They put me on antibiotics and back in a cast again. Do you think it was too early? Has this happened to anyne else?

I will be non weight bearing until January and I am going stir crazy laying here with my foot up.
I have made my own small travel website ** and even my own
silly foot injury store. ** I have 5 silly graphics on tshirts mugs and magnets
I am only marketing them to people like me. It keeps me a little busy but not busy enough. What does everyone else do with their time? how do you keep your spirits up? I appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Lucy

**sorry no external links --Admin
